Daytrippin’

On our way to the North Cascades on Highway 20.

Today was such a gorgeous day that we decided to hop in the car and head up to the North Cascades. It was truly gorgeous, though the pictures don’t capture the beauty well enough.

We drove Highway 20 to the point where it was closed for the season (due to avalanches and ice) at mile marker 134. This was the view from up there…

Sorry this is so dark, the sun was already starting to set, but hopefully you get the idea. It was beautiful!

We listened to the radio, talked, got out twice for photo opportunities and froze in the icy winds that were blowing down the gorge, slipped on ice, crunched through snow, laughed, argued a little (but not much) and had a really nice time.

Our first picture taken with the self-timer on our camera. It turned out pretty well I think.

I’ll leave you with one more picture. This is Diablo Lake. I love the way the fog is rising from the lake, but otherwise is it like glass. I’m sure the picture doesn’t do it justice, but it was breathtaking.
