So much for my resolution to post more regularly again. Though this time it wasn’t so much laziness as being busy that kept me from journaling and blogging! Being busy is a good thing for me though, although I’ve been missing my afternoon nap. It sure helps the days go by faster. Tomorrow I’ll be 13 weeks along!! Wohoo! We’ve been listening to the BabyBeat at least once a day at night and often twice a day. It is so reassuring! I know I sleep better at night after I’ve heard that little swishing of the heartbeat. I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially if they are as nervous as I am about everything going well. Yesterday I took it with me to my parents house so that my mom and dad could hear the heartbeat. It was so cute to watch my dad’s face when we finally found it and it came in loud and clear. He was just so amazed and tickled by it. Of course my mom was just grinning like a proud grandma the whole time and I’m sure my face must have a huge grin on it too. In fact, everyone I see who knows about my pregnancy comments on the fact that I look so good and so happy. I tell them that’s because I am happy. I pretty much feel pretty happy all the time. It’s a nice feeling after the rollercoaster we’ve been through these last two years. I’m not even stressing about the quad-screen. I just have this feeling that everything is going to be ok. I hope that my instinct isn’t wrong! This weekend was a fun one. We went downtown and explored the Seattle Art Museum – a first for both Michael and I. We went with some friends and enjoyed the exhibit (currently Art of Africa). Afterwards we walked to the Pike Place Market, which is always fun and even better on a gorgeous day like we had on Saturday. In fact, we’ve been enjoying glorious weather for the last week – clear blue skies, crisp spring air, white capped mountains and azure blue waters – those days that make living through the rainy season in the Pacific Northwest worthwhile. Of course, we had to take advantage of that wonderful weather and get a few things done in our garden, which has been sadly neglected since fall. We did a lot of clean-up and Michael planted 70 gladiola bulbs and together we planted 4 peony plants. Though it was chilly out, we quickly stripped of our sweatshirts as we worked up a good sweat in the sun. The soil smells so wonderful as it warms by the sun. We have some small daffodils and crocuses blooming in our yard, with some tulips and hyacinths coming up too. Hurray, spring is on it’s way! Soon it will be time to visit the Skagit Valley Tulip Fields again. We are looking forward to showing the Tulip Fields to our new Thai SIL. I know she’ll love those fields of brilliant red (red is her favorite color). After working in our garden for 4 hours, we went to check our mailbox and I found a wonderful package for the Peep from Jade and family!!!! I believe that is the first package the Peep has received!! Jade wrote the sweetest little letter to the Peep as well, and you can be sure I will be saving it for the scrapbook – too cute!! I need to take a picture of all the goodies Jade sent, but the package included a “Baby On Board” sign for my car, two pairs of baby mittens (to keep the little one from scratching him/herself with his/her sharp little nails), a soft ring/rattle for the baby to hold, 3 cotton bodysuits (onesies) and a wonderful grooming set which includes baby scissors, nail clippers, comb, brush, toothbrush and emery boards! Really, really wonderful!! I’m not sure if the Peep fully appreciates these gifts yet, but I’m sure he/she will!! Thank you Jade!! You are the sweetest!! Funny enough, Jade received my package to her on Friday! Our packages must have crossed in the mail! I can’t remember if I ever mentioned this in my journal, but there is a particular tea that I am completely head over heals for, but have been unable to find in any grocery stores for years now. I happened to have a few tea bags left that I had saved and used sparingly for that time with the hope that I would find more of this tea before using them up. As it was, I used the last two tea bags when we celebrated Michael’s birthday. Fortunately I did keep the can they came in and called the telephone number of the company on the can to see if they could help me find more of this tea (or even if they still made it). I had done this before, but at the time, there weren’t any stores anywhere close to me that stocked the tea. This time I was in luck. I found a store in Bellevue that had recently ordered a case of the apricot tea. (It’s Northwest Trader brand Apricot Tea – 97% caffeine free.) So today after my dentist appointment, I drove to Bellevue and found the little shop that had ordered the tea. As it turned out it was a little Italian specialty shop not far from Bellevue Square and there, on the shelf, visible the moment I walked in the store, was my TEA!!!!! I was so happy. I know it sounds silly, but it totally made my day! I bought 4 cans of the apricot and couldn’t resist trying the raspberry tea as well. I noticed they also had Earl Grey and strawberry as well, but I thought Michael might have a conniption if came home with 7 or 8 cans of tea! The best part is that I can drink this tea with a clear conscience since it is pretty much caffeine free. Have I mentioned that I love this tea. I’ve never found another apricot tea that even came close to comparing. I’m a very happy girl. I am going to give away one can to my friend in Portland since she is a tea nut like I am, and I might give another can (or at least some tea bags) to my sister who also loves this tea. As long as I know I can get more, I won’t mind giving it away. I think I might just go an make myself a cup right now! So that’s what I’ve been up to. Busy but good. I’m even more busy today and tomorrow, since tonight I have the “The Spinsters” coming over for dinner at my house (making homemade fajitas) and tomorrow I have to go to another unemployment seminar, get another blood test done and pack for my trip to Portland! On Wednesday I’m off for 4 – 5 days, so you won’t hear from me most likely. I don’t think I’ll have any access to a computer or the internet unfortunately. But by now you are probably used to not hearing from me for 4 – 5 days. Sorry about that! Take care until then though! ![]()
