Crash

Today sucked. I got into an accident on the way to my blood test. Not a bad accident, but a fender bender and I was at fault since I rear-ended a woman who stopped at a yield sign when no one was coming. No matter if she was stupid to stop, I was at fault since I hit her. Thank goodness, although a police officer came to the scene (she wouldn't move forward and we were blocking the merge lane), I didn't get a ticket. An even better thing since I recently got a speeding ticket revoked as long as I don't get another ticket for a year, if I do get a ticket I not only have the speeding ticket on my record but I have to pay for it as well. Believe me I was sweating a few bullets when the police showed up today.

Unfortunately when my husband called her husband on the phone tonight to see if we could deal with the damage without involving the insurance company, it sounded like the guy thought he would need a whole new bumper. I don’t see how, since she didn’t have any more damage to her car than I had to mine, which was just a scratched bumper. So this whole “experience” might end up costing us as much as our insurance deductible if not more. Michael was not happy. I was not happy. It’s been rather quiet in our house this evening. Uggh. I hate to leave on my trip to Portland on this note.

As for me, physically I’m fine. I wasn’t driving that fast since I was going slow to yield to traffic (though there wasn’t any). Still I can’t deny my first thought was for my Peep. I was pretty sure I didn’t get jolted enough to do any damage, but there was a bit of a worry. Fortunately I was on my way to my RE’s for my blood test. I told them my story and they were so sweet and insisted they do a quick ultrasound just to make sure everything was all right. For the first time we actually did an abdominal ultrasound (vs. a vaginal one). It was hard to see, but the Peep seemed to be fine and was wiggling around and the little heart was beating away. So at least I don’t have to worry about our little one. I just have to worry about where the money is going to come from to pay for the damage to the other person’s car. Uggh! I feel so darn stupid.

I still have to pack for my trip tomorrow, so I’ll make this entry a short one. You can be sure I will drive carefully on my way down to Portland. I don’t need any more accidents or tickets, that’s for sure. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I hope to have lots to share about my trip next week!
