Just a Short One

”Friday

What is your favorite time of year?Well, I hate to be so wishy-washy, but I honestly can’t say I have a favorite time of year. I love each season in it’s own right. I guess winter would be my least favorite season though, since we usually just get rain, rain and more rain. But I do love it when it does snow. I’d hate to live someplace that never got any snow. I love spring and the tulips and lilacs (you know me and lilacs), and the fact it starts getting warmer. I love summers here in Seattle too. Unlike a lot of places where it gets blisteringly hot, summers are the best season here in Seattle – mid-70’s to low 80’s temps and clear blue skies. Ah, I can hardly wait for summer and not having to wear sweaters and stockings. I love leaving all the windows and doors open to the breezes and summer evening walks with my sweetie. Then again, I do love fall and the changing leaves and all the “Back to School” supplies in the stores. I don’t think I’ll ever stop feeling like autumn is the real “new year” – the start of the new school year, even though I haven’t been a student or a teacher for quite some time. So there you go, I’m wishy-washy I guess.

What is it about your favorite season that, well, makes it your favorite season? I guess I already answered that question above.

What is your least favorite time of year? Ack, I already answered that too. Winter, because of all the rain. By February I start dreaming of a trip to Hawaii or someplace sunny. They always say Seattlites don’t tan, they rust. I think there is some truth to that.

Do you do anything to celebrate or recognize the changing of the seasons? No, not really. Except perhaps putting different tablecoths on the kitchen table and some decorations for the holidays here and there.

What’s your favorite thing to do outside? Hmmmm…my favorite thing to do outside is to sit out in a comfortable chair with a good book and something to drink and just read and then (usually) fall asleep in the sun. I like the feeling of accomplishment working in my yard, but I can’t say it is my favorite thing to do outside. I also love going for walks on nice days.

In other news, I’m still working on the photo project. I am making some headway, but it’s going to take some time yet. I’m trying to do a little bit each day. Michael has been working on our taxes. For a while there we thought for sure we would have to pay, but it looks like we might actually be getting some money back! He hadn’t added our house interest payments into all the forms and when he did we quickly went from the negative to the positive. Gotta love those write-offs!

Don’t forget to vote if you haven’t already. In only 4 more days we’ll hopefully know if the Peep is a boy or a girl!! The poll is in the margin on the right hand side. Vote now if you haven’t already! The “girl” votes are still winning. Michael had a dream the other day that we had a little baby girl. I thought it was kind of sweet that he’s having baby dreams. I still haven’t had any! I just have very disturbing and mostly negative dreams these days. Not good. I think I might have felt the baby move today – it felt like something flipped in my tummy. Not very hard, but I was leaning back stretching and I felt a very funny “bloop” below my belly button, unlike anything I’d ever felt before. I’m only 15 weeks 3 days so I don’t know if it was the baby or not, but I don’t know what else it could have been. It was very strange. Michael was standing there and he said my eyes got really big. I can hardly wait till I can really feel the baby move and KNOW it is the baby!
