Monday, Apr. 01, 2002 - 6:37 p.m. - No April Fools Jokes
I’ve been sitting by the phone all day today, first waiting on my OB’s office to call about the results about our quad-screen test. It is now long after 5:00 pm, so I doubt we’ll be getting those results today. What a pain. I’ve been on edge about that phone call all day and it never came. Now I’m hoping the phone will ring and it will be Diffy with good news on the results of her IVF, but it is already nearing 9:00 pm her time (she’s in Toronto) and no call, so I’m afraid she got bad news. I’m still hoping that I’m wrong and that she’s been so excited that she’s been calling her parents and in-laws and maybe gone out to dinner or something and that’s why she hasn’t called. I hope that so much. My heart will break for her if she got a negative pregnancy test today. I had such big hopes (and I know she had huge hopes) and I just know what it feels like to be crushed by that kind of bad news. I was truly and deeply depressed for a good 3 weeks or so from our negative IVF results and I know nothing I say or do will help her through this if she gets bad news. Either way, I hope she knows I’m here for her. Infertility really stinks! One thing I did today while waiting for the phone to ring was that I finally updated my “Journals I read” links!! They should be updated (no more bad links) and I added a number of journals that I read that I hadn’t listed before. I’m sure I left some important ones off because I always forget some, so if you know I read your journal and your journal isn’t listed on my links page, please let me know. Also, these are just the journals, most of these journals also have weblogs that I still have to list on my own weblog. Spring is arriving here in Seattle finally! Today we actually had some sunshine although it was still crisp out – still sweater weather. At least there is promise of some change in the air and our plum tree is blooming beautifully! I hope everyone’s Easter was nice. Ours was very low key, but a pleasant time as always. We went to my parents for brunch, my dad made a glazed ham that he was quite proud of (a first for my family, we don’t usually do hams for Easter) and we had all kinds of good food and fresh strawberries. Sadly I forgot my camera at home so I don’t have any cute pictures of my nephews searching for eggs. I could just kick myself for forgetting them. They were so excited about the Easter Bunny coming! I love the age that they are at, still so excited about things and believing in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus and Tooth Fairies. Michael and I received a tree to plant in our backyard to mark our little Peeps coming into our lives and into our family! Ironically I had just been talking to Michael about the fact that I wanted to plant a special tree or ornamental shrub to mark our baby’s birth on our way to my parents. He already knew about the tree, so he must have been snickering to himself when I brought that topic up. I’m not sure what kind of a tree it is, but it is a blooming tree and is supposed to have beautiful leaves. Right now it is bare, so we will see. We also celebrated both nephew’s birthdays. They were so excited because their mom had bought them a Harry Potter birthday cake. Since their birthdays are just 3 days apart, we always celebrate a combined family birthday while each of them get their “kids” party separately (at least now that they are older and that sort of thing matters more). Then they got to open all their presents from the family. They were so cute and so excited with everything they received. They really do play very well together and share things nicely (at least most of the time). It was fun to imagine them playing with our little one in a few years time. They’ll be great older cousins! I have to write a journal entry about Michael’s first visit to Babies R Us this last Friday. What a riot! You have to understand that this is a man who knows nothing about babies or their needs and requirements. Too funny!
