Tulip Pictures

Yeah, we finally started on the baby room. Michael cut all the beadboard wainscoting and I started to paint it white. I only got four large pieces done, but it’s a start. I think I should be able to finish up tomorrow or Monday. I’ve been doing the painting outside, so that there isn’t the worry about fumes and it is working well. But that is why I couldn’t do any painting today or yesterday because our nice weather didn’t keep. Fortunately it looks as though tomorrow is supposed to be nice again, so I’ll get started first thing again tomorrow.

Once we get that done, we are going to start on the ceiling and walls. I still have to go pick out the colors. We are going to sponge so that it has a rather water-color look. I might even dilute the paint in water a little to get the desired effect. I’ve never done this before so it will be an experiment, but I’m anxious to get going and try. I want to do the ceiling in blue with some clouds and with yellow stars. Then the walls will start out with the same blue as the ceiling but will get lighter towards the bottom where we will paint some little scenes. We are using the Becky Kelly cards for ideas. My mom is pretty good at drawing so we hope that she can transfer that same skills to the walls.

Between starting on the baby room and all kinds of other tasks and fun activities, I’ve just been a busy bee. I hadn’t even viewed all my tulip pictures from last week until today. What I particularly love are the shots where you can see just how big and far these tulip fields stretch. There is truly color as far as your eyes can see. Here’s a great example. The red was so brilliant that it almost hurt your eyes to look at it.

Red tulips as far as you can see

There are just so many kinds of tulips and so many colors too, but I often just love the fields and fields of color over the fancy hybrid variety they have in show gardens. (Though those are lovely too.) Check out these ones, they actually have 3 – 4 blossoms on one stalk!

Check it out, four blossoms on one tulip!

Well, now it is time for me to get ready for a “Treasure Hunt” that we are participating in this evening. My brother set it up with a friend. Just think of it as “The Amazing Race in Shoreline” – a somewhat scaled down version of the CBS show. It should be a lot of fun. I hope our team doesn’t end up in last place!

The Peep seems to be doing well. She started wiggling much more in the last few days. Or should I say I can feel her wiggling more in the last few days. I love it because it is so nice and reassuring that she’s in there and doing well. I’ve even felt her kick on the outside a few times, though each time Michael tries to feel she stops or kicks someplace else. He’s getting a bit discouraged, but I know it won’t be long until he feels her too. I’m looking forward to that.

I hope to have some before, during and after pictures of the baby room and will post those as well. Thanks for reading!!
