My Big Girl

Wednesday was an important day for more than one reason.

Not only was it Jade and Daniel’s Anniversary, it was also my best friend, I’s anniversary. But even more importantly, in our little world, our little Alyssa Arianna turned one month old and we had our first “Mother-Daughter” outing!!

How can it be that Alyssa is already one month old?!! How can it be that time just flew by since she was born when it seemed to drag on terribly when I was pregnant with her? And when did she get so big? The other day I tried to put two different outfits on her and neither of them fit her any more!! It honestly brought tears to my eyes to see that my little girl had grown so big already! In fact, I took out a size “3 month” outfit to see how big it was on her and it fit!!! I’m glad that my little girl is growing so well with just my “mommy milk” but I wish she’d stay small a little longer! I know this infant stage is just so terribly short.

In honor of her 1 month “birthday,” I dressed her in the outfit she wore going home from the hospital. That too, fit her just right and it won’t be much longer before it doesn’t fit anymore. When we brought her home from the hospital in that outfit, she was just floating in it and I had to roll up the sleeves.

Just for comparison, here are two pictures of her in the same car seat and outfit on the day she came home from the hospital and on her 1 month birthday. Can you believe the change??

We had our first outing alone on her 1 month birthday. I would have liked to have gone out with her alone before, but due to my c-section I wasn’t supposed to drive until at least 4 weeks after my surgery. For our first “Mother-Daughter” date we attended our first “Cuddlers” class (offered through the hospital where she was born). It was a lot of fun to see a few of the women who had been in our birthing classes and best of all the topic for the day was “setting up playgroups,” and we spent part of the class time getting together with people who lived in our area and trying to possibly set up some playgroups. I’m so glad that I attended, because I’ve been hoping to find a mommy’s group or play group of some kind for Alyssa and I. We’ll see what happens… I’m going to have to take my mom with me to one of the Cuddlers classes since I know she’d get a kick out of seeing all the babies. There must have been at least 40 babies there!
